Win Butler and co pay tribute to US New Wave band
Arcade Fire paid tribute to DEVO by covering their track 'Uncontrollable Urge' during a show in Los Angeles last night (October 31) – scroll down to the bottom of the page and click to watch. The Canadian group covered the song, which appeared on the US band's 1978 classic record 'Are We Not Men? We Are Devo', as part of their LA gig. Playing under the name The Reflektors, the performance also saw frontman Win Butler don one of the oversized masks that he and his bandmates have been using in recent weeks.
Arcade Fire released their fourth studio album 'Reflektor' earlier this week (October 28). Speaking to NME in new interview in this week's issue, available digitally and on newsstands now, Butler said that the band saw themselves as the "black sheep" of the music industry.
He said: "In a weird way, our band feels in a similar position to a band like The Cure before alternative music really happened. We're the weird band in this more mainstream context, a little bit of the black sheep, you know?"
It was reported earlier this week that the LP is set to top this weekend's Official UK album chart – they are currently outselling Katy Perry's LP 'Prism', which is currently sitting at the summit, by three copies to one, according to the Official Charts Company.
