Arctic Monkeys' Alex Turner says he's in 'no hurry' to write 'AM' follow-up

'There's lots of shit still to do on this album', he says

Alex Turner has revealed he's in "no hurry" to start writing the follow-up to Arctic Monkeys' 2013 album 'AM'.

Speaking after the band's two triumphant shows at London's Finsbury Park last month, Turner says in this week's NME, which is on newsstands from tomorrow (June 11) and available digitally, that he still has a "lot of shit still to do" with promoting and touring 'AM'.

"I've written a few things, but I'm not in a hurry," the frontman says. "We're going to keep going [with touring] until the summer and beyond that a little bit, maybe. I don't know. I wouldn't think it'll be too soon that we do the next one."

He then goes on to admit that part of the band's reluctance to rush back into the studio is their burgeoning success in the US. "It's been going really well in America and there's still lots of shit still to do on this album," he said. "I don't feel, for once, that we need to rush and get on to the next thing. It seems like a good place to leave it for a minute."

Arctic Monkeys will headline Reading and Leeds on August Bank Holiday weekend.
