Nile Rodgers and Chic perform Daft Punk's 'Get Lucky' for the first time – watch

June 10, 2014 9:26

Rodgers worked on 2013 hit with French duo and Pharrell Williams

Nile Rodgers performed 'Get Lucky', his collaboration with Daft Punk, for the first time at a live show in France over the weekend. See above to watch him and Chic play the song now.

Despite it being released in April 2013, Daft Punk have yet to play live in concert since their return and Rodgers has always refused to put 'Get Lucky' into Chic live sets, preferring instead to play the song over the PA as the band say goodbye at the end of shows.

However, during a performance at Montereau Fault-Yonne in France this changed, as you can see in the video. Rodgers has not yet commented on why he chose to start playing the song. Pharrell Williams, the other collaborator on the original song, also plays it in his live solo show.

Many other artists have covered 'Get Lucky' in the last 12 months, including Daughter, Peace, Mystery Jets, Fall Out Boy and Wilco. In February the Russian police performed the song as part of the Winter Olympics 2014 Opening Ceremony in Sochi.

Meanwhile, Karen O recently spoke about her Oscar nomination for the first time. She is joined on the list of nominees for this year's Oscars by fellow musical acts U2 and Pharrell Williams.

She added: "It's wild because 'The Moon Song' was written and recorded in the most humble of circumstances; at my dining room table, a few paces away from the couch [where] I read the script for 'Her' for the first time."

December 19, 2013 13:05

Organiser promises "a collaborative and celebratory stage performance" from French duo

Daft Punk will perform at the Grammy Awards next year.

The French duo will perform material from their album 'Random Access Memories' live for the first time at the January 26 ceremony, which takes place at the Staples Centre in Los Angeles. Daft Punk are nominated for five awards on the night, including the highly coveted Record Of The Year.

Speaking about what will be Daft Punk's first televised performance since 2008, Grammys Executive Producer Ken Ehrlich tells Rolling Stone that fans can expect "a collaborative and celebratory stage performance that honors their multi-nominated music." Daft Punk's last TV performance came at the Grammys in 2008, when they played alongside Kanye West on his song 'Stronger'.

"We learned that because they had such a good experience with us when they appeared with Kanye in 2008, they were happy to discuss a performance on this year's show," Ehrlich adds. "Conversations took place over a period of a couple of months, and finally they agreed to be a part of this year's telecast."

Lorde, James Blake, Tame Impala, Disclosure and The National are amongst the artists to receive nominations for the 56th annual Grammy Awards. Click hereto see the full list of nominees.

Al Jarreau to perform in New Orleans for benefit (AP)

NEW ORLEANS – Grammy-winning jazz singer Al Jarreau will perform in New Orleans at a concert benefiting Xavier University, one of the nation's only historically black and Roman Catholic colleges.

This will be the fourth year a concert has been held for the Dr. Norman C. Francis Endowed Scholarship Fund, a program named after the university's president. The fund allows deserving students to earn a college degree regardless of their finances.

The concert is scheduled for Friday night. The first such concert was held three years ago to commemorate Francis' 40th anniversary as Xavier's president.

Besides Jarreau — who has won Grammy awards in jazz, pop and R&B — New Orleans native and 1980 Xavier graduate John Boutte is also scheduled to perform.

LOS ANGELES – Miranda Lambert is stepping into new husband Blake Shelton's territory.

On next Wednesday's season finale of NBC's hit singing contest, "The Voice," Lambert will perform a duet with the finalist who was on Shelton's team, Dia Frampton.
