Intruder arrested at home of Miley Cyrus

LOS ANGELES | Sun Sep 9, 2012 4:52pm EDT

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - A man with a pair of scissors who claimed to be the husband of teen singer Miley Cyrus was arrested at her Los Angeles-area home after jumping the fence, police and local media reported on Sunday.

Cyrus, 19, was out of town at the time of the incident. Police said they received an emergency call from the property after the man got onto the grounds before dawn on Saturday, knocked on the door and banged on the walls of the former "Hannah Montana" star's house.

Los Angeles police said officers found the man hiding in the bushes and jailed him for trespassing. He was carrying scissors in a back pocket.

Celebrity news website TMZ.com ran video of the arrest, in which the man is heard telling police as they searched him: "I am a friend of Miley Cyrus. I am. She's my wife. Me and Miley have been friends for five years."

Cyrus rose to fame as the star of the Disney Channel's "Hannah Montana" show. Cyrus went on to build a worldwide singing career that includes hits like "Party in the U.S.A." and "The Climb."

Bonnie Pointer arrested during LA traffic stop (AP)

LOS ANGELES – Authorities say singer Patricia "Bonnie" Pointer of the Pointer Sisters has been arrested for investigation of possessing rock cocaine.

Sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore says the 61-year-old singer was arrested Friday in South Los Angeles after the car she was riding in was pulled over for a mechanical malfunction.

Deputies say she was released after posting $10,000 bail.

In a statement issued through her manager Robert Watson, Pointer thanked the public for their support and prayers.

Watson declined comment on the arrest.

The Pointer Sisters grew up singing in church. Patricia and June formed a duo and were singing in clubs when Anita and Ruth joined them.

The sisters released their first album in 1973 and won a Grammy in 1974. Bonnie left in 1977 for a solo career.

She is due in court on Jan. 17.

Rapper arrested in Ohio after organizing flash mob (AP)

STRONGSVILLE, Ohio – Authorities say rapper Machine Gun Kelly organized a flash mob at a suburban Cleveland mall and was charged with disorderly conduct.

Strongsville police say the group gathered Saturday, and mall management asked three people standing on a table near a second-floor railing to step down. Kelly was among the three. When they refused, police were called.

Police say they're no longer in custody. Kelly tweeted later that "today was a statement."

Sean "P. Diddy" Combs told MTV this month that he signed Kelly, an Ohio native, to his Bad Boy Records label.

"Machine Gun" was the nickname of George Kelly, a Prohibition-era gangster.

The Plain Dealer reports that Cleveland's mayor recently vetoed an ordinance that would have criminalized some uses of social media and was aimed at curbing flash mobs.
